Founded in 1999, the Metal Mulisha is comprised of over 20 athletes, representing several sport disciplines - primarily most of the top Freestyle Motocross athletes in the world, Supercross/Motocross racers, and Ultimate Fighters.
In 1997, the first Freestyle Motocross demo debuted at Winchester Arena in Southern California with riders Brian Deegan, Micky Dymond and Ronnie Faisst among the first-ever to introduce fans to an extraordinary type of visual action that absolutely no one had ever seen before on dirt bike!
With the sport of Freestyle Motocross debuting at ESPN's X Games In 1998, the group began to take form stemming from the camaraderie among riders that were rebellious and quick not to follow the governing rules of competition set before them.
Co-founded by Freestyle Motocross icon Brian Deegan, one year later in 1999, Deegan and a few fellow non-conforming competitors arrived at the Summer X Games, united within a self-titled group called the Metal Mulisha. Progressive right from the start, the group's early branding efforts included spray painting Metal Mulisha with stencils on the tanks of their competition bikes and with magic markers hand-lettering a handful of t-shrits worn only by those competing within the groundbreaking sport.
Almost 10 years later, the Mulisha membership has quadrupled twice, boosts close to 50 competition medals among the ranks, and now includes a line of apparel and accessories with sales that have grown by 200 percent over 2007 alone.
With X Games properties going global, the Metal Mulisha has international core fan bases in Australia, China, Japan, Mexico, Brazil, Dubai and South Africa.
Based in Southern California, the Metal Mulisha has been referred to as one of the most recognizable brand names within action sports today and is by far the most recognizable name in Freestyle Motocross. www.metalmulisha.com |
